Quest International University Equips Educators and Students with Gen AI Skills

By Anne Das

Quest International University (QIU) recently hosted a Train the Trainers workshop, empowering 24 academic staff members to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their teaching.

Held over two days, the programme was jointly organised by QIU’s Academic Affairs Division and the Faculty of Computing and Engineering. It focused on how Generative AI (Gen AI) can be used to foster higher-order thinking skills and prepare students for a future shaped by technology.

Participants explored modules such as Introduction to AI and Gen AI, AI in Curriculum, Gen AI in Teaching and Learning, and Gen AI in Assessment and Meaningful Impact. They also developed classroom activities and assessment tasks designed to stimulate critical and creative thinking.

This workshop marks the start of a wider initiative across the university. All academic staff will soon undergo similar training, followed by sessions for students on the ethical and mindful use of Gen AI in their studies.

To guide these efforts, QIU’s Academic Affairs Division has introduced a Framework for the Use of Generative AI in Teaching and Learning, available under a Creative Commons Licence on the university’s website. The framework is supported by a practical Playbook offering examples and guidelines on using Gen AI to enhance learning and assessment.
