KUALA KANGSAR: Out with the old, preserving the legacy.
That is the commitment of Persatuan Kumpulan Sejarah Malaysia (MHG), which has taken the initiative to replace the historical signboard at Iskandar Bridge here.
MHG Chief Researcher and founder, Shaharom Ahmad, said the effort is part of the association’s ongoing commitment to preserving local history.

He said the initiative also aims to raise awareness and disseminate knowledge about World War II history, particularly events closely linked to the area.
“Each signboard is not merely an information display, but serves as a bridge of memory connecting today’s generation with stories of past struggles and sacrifices.
“The previous signboard was installed in 2020, and its condition had deteriorated and was damaged.
“Therefore, we replaced it with a new signboard to ensure that historical information is presented more clearly, neatly and durably, while enabling visitors and the local community to better understand the site’s significance in the nation’s historical narrative,” he said.

Meanwhile, MHG expressed its appreciation to all parties who supported and contributed to the initiative, particularly the Mustapha Hussain family, Pixtor Printing House, and the Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council.
According to Shaharom, close cooperation between non-governmental organisations, the private sector and local authorities is crucial in ensuring that heritage conservation efforts can be carried out continuously and effectively.
“May this noble effort continue to foster public awareness so that history is always understood, appreciated and preserved for future generations,” he added.
