IPOH: A pedestrian walkway should be provided along Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah, particularly in front of the traffic lights at Taman Song Choon, which serves as the main route for visitors travelling on foot to nearby tourist attractions.
An Ipoh resident proposed the suggestion, noting that many tourists were seen forced to walk along the edge of the busy road due to the lack of proper pedestrian facilities.

Most of the visitors use the route to get to Tasik Cermin.
“I feel quite embarrassed seeing tourists, both local and foreign, coming here but having to walk along the roadside without safe pedestrian facilities.
“We are concerned that if an accident occurs, it will cause difficulties for many parties, as most of these tourists walk to Tasik Cermin and there is no easy access for buses or Grab services,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
In addition, the area is also known for its numerous tourist attractions, including temples frequently visited by visitors.
“Most of them walk from Lin Seng Tong Temple, located beside a petrol station, and this area is among the key tourist spots when visiting Ipoh.
“When passing through this road, it is common to see visitors forced to walk along the busy road shoulder, especially during peak hours. Some have nearly been hit by vehicles, which is dangerous for pedestrians,” he added.
