IPOH: The district police chiefs of Ipoh and Hilir Perak have swapped hands following the appointment of two new officers to lead the respective districts.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Muhammad Najib Hamzah has been appointed as the new Ipoh OCPD, replacing ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad.
Abang Zainal has been transferred following his appointment as Deputy Commandant of the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre.


Meanwhile, the post of Hilir Perak OCPD is now held by ACP Chua Kok Lian, who takes over from ACP Dr Bakri Haji Zainal Abidin following the latter’s retirement.
Earlier, Kok Lian was pinned with the rank of ACP ahead of his appointment as Hilir Perak OCPD.
The handing-over ceremony was witnessed by Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess here.


At the same ceremony, Superintendent (Supt) Mohd Husni Manaf was promoted to the rank of ACP and entrusted with new responsibilities as chief of the Perak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department.
He replaces Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Lee King Chuan, who is now director of the Investigation and Prosecution Division at the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency.
In his speech, Noor Hisam congratulated SAC Lee King Chuan and ACP Mohd Husni on their promotions.
He also expressed hope that ACP Mohd Husni would ensure the smooth running of the Perak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department’s operations and lead it to greater success.
