Solidarity Run Nears Finish Line Tomorrow

By Zaki Salleh

MUALLIM, June 21 — Only a few kilometres remain before the finish line as the Solidariti Bersama DAK (Dara, Amoi and Kelat) Run enters its final stage.

DAK Solidarity Secretariat chief Neow Choo Seong successfully completed the fifth day of the run today, covering a distance of 60 kilometres from Tanjung Malim to Selayang.

The  run began as early as 5am and passed through Hulu Bernam, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Serendah and Rawang before reaching its final destination for the day at 7pm.

The approximately 290km solo run from Taiping to the Parliament Tower is being held to raise awareness about the plight of three Malaysian elephants — Dara, Amoi and Kelat — which are currently housed at Tennoji Zoo in Japan.

Throughout the journey, Neow also engaged with local communities to increase public awareness of issues surrounding the three elephants.

Having completed a total of 270km by the end of the fifth day, Neow is scheduled to embark on the final leg of the journey from Selayang to the Parliament Tower on June 22 (Monday).

The highlight of the mission will be the submission of a petition to Members of Parliament, calling for the welfare of Dara, Amoi and Kelat to be discussed in the Dewan Rakyat.
