GOPENG: The Perak government has approved an emergency allocation of RM150,000 to construct a temporary suspension bridge after access to Kampung Ulu Geruntum was cut off following a recent flash flood and water surge incident.
Teja assemblywoman Sandrea Ng said construction of the bridge is currently underway and is expected to be completed by mid-July.

She added that, as a long-term solution, the state government has also approved RM500,000 to build a permanent concrete bridge at the site.
“Following the recent water surge and flash flood that struck Kampung Ulu Geruntum, several immediate measures have been taken to help residents return to their daily lives as quickly as possible.
“To restore the water supply, which was disrupted after water pipes were damaged during the incident, I have approved an allocation of RM45,000 from my constituency fund for repair works.
“I would like to thank all agencies and parties who have continued working tirelessly on the ground. I hope these efforts can be expedited so that the affairs and daily lives of Kampung Ulu Geruntum residents can return to normal as soon as possible,” she said.
