IPOH: Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk), through its subsidiary Majuperak Berhad, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Swedish company, Peak Education Limited, to develop a world-class eco-tourism destination on Pulau Banding, Tasik Temengor, Hulu Perak.
The 57.5-acre site near Royal Belum Forest Reserve will be transformed into a sustainable eco-tourism and wellness centre, emphasising clean energy and nature-based experiences.
Chief Executive Officer of SMPB, Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, stated that this project demonstrates the state government’s commitment to utilizing assets responsibly and will commence with a two-year feasibility study.
Should the study prove promising, the project is expected to bring significant benefits to Perak’s economy through job opportunities, skill development, and quality investments.
PKNPk emphasises the importance of responsible tourism development while preserving natural heritage, such as using battery-powered boats and conservation efforts.
This collaboration also opens opportunities to leverage Swedish expertise in green energy and digital technology, facilitating knowledge transfer to local communities.
This initiative aligns with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 vision to develop quality tourism and resilient communities, ensuring long-term benefits for Pulau Banding without compromising the environment.
