IPOH: The compound of a house at Persiaran Cempaka Sari 24, Taman Cempaka, which had repeatedly been used to accumulate rubbish, including plastic waste and bottles, was recently cleaned up by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
A residents’ representative, who identified himself as Ahmad, said they hoped the elderly woman would not repeat the habit, as the issue had occurred twice.
He urged the authorities to take more effective action to ensure the matter was resolved comprehensively.

Excessive accumulation of items, commonly known as hoarding disorder, can have adverse consequences for neighbouring residents, while also affecting the mental and emotional well-being of the individual involved, who may require treatment.
“Alhamdulillah, MBI and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) came to the house to address the rubbish problem, which had produced a foul smell and posed a risk of spreading diseases.
“Cleaning workers used an excavator to remove rubbish and items that had been accumulated in the compound for a long time.
“We would like to thank Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic for highlighting the issue previously. As residents, we hope this matter can finally be put to rest,” he said.

In August, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported residents’ complaints about the elderly woman’s habit of collecting plastic, cardboard boxes, polystyrene and plastic containers in front of her house, which were reportedly not intended for sale.
The practice was also alleged to have contributed to mosquito problems in the neighbourhood, with Taman Cempaka having previously been identified as a dengue hotspot.
