MANJUNG: Two sisters were killed after becoming trapped in a fire involving two houses in Kampung Koh, Sitiawan, here, today.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Sayani Saidon said the victims were aged 18 and 15.
The fire also involved four vehicles — two Proton Saga cars, a Proton Perdana and a motorcycle.
She said the department received an emergency call at about 9am, prompting firefighters from the Sitiawan and Seri Manjung Fire and Rescue Stations, along with members of the Pantai Remis Volunteer Fire Brigade, to rush to the scene.
“Two adjoining two-storey Class C houses were involved in the fire, with nearly 90 per cent of both houses destroyed. Two victims were trapped inside the house.
“Overhaul operations are ongoing, and further information will be updated from time to time. The K9 special team has been contacted to assist in the investigation,” she said on Friday.
