LUMUT – The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has deployed 100 personnel to carry out a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) mission following flash floods that hit several areas on Pangkor Island early this morning.
The mission, coordinated by the Western Fleet Command Headquarters (MPA Barat), was led by its Chief of Staff for Operations, Commander Abdul Manan Mazlan RMN.

The operation involved three Fast Combat Boats (FCBs) and two Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs) to support personnel movement and the delivery of aid.
An RMN helicopter was also placed on standby to provide aerial support if required.
The RMN also prepared 300 packed meals and 425 bottles of mineral water for personnel involved in cleaning operations in the flood-affected areas.

Those involved included RMN personnel, teachers, individuals and representatives from several government agencies working together in the recovery efforts.
Cleaning operations focused on Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Pangkor, as well as mosques and residential properties severely affected by the floods.

The affected areas were reported to be covered in thick layers of mud, requiring extensive cleaning to restore normal conditions.
The Western Fleet Command Headquarters, together with units under the command and administration of Lumut Naval Base, will continue supporting recovery efforts in coordination with relevant agencies.
