Chicken slaughtering, processing carried out in back lane without valid licence

MANJUNG: Thirteen live chickens and three cages were seized in an enforcement operation targeting chicken slaughtering and processing activities carried out in a back lane behind business premises here.

Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) said the activity was suspected to have been conducted without a valid licence issued by the council.

The activity also caused uncleanliness, public nuisance and unpleasant odours, potentially affecting public comfort.

“The operation was carried out following enforcement patrols to ensure business activities comply with regulations and do not affect environmental cleanliness and well-being,” the council said in a statement.

It said the seized items had been taken to MPM’s enforcement store for further action.

The action was taken under the MPM Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws 2017.

MPM stressed that it would not compromise on business activities conducted without valid licences.

“All business operators and premises owners are reminded to comply with licensing requirements and ensure their activities are carried out at approved locations without causing a nuisance to the public,” it said.
