A total of RM60,000 was raised in the “I Love You, Change a Child’s Life: Charity Run and Food Bazaar” by Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan 1 Malaysia, Perak (PPPJ1M) also known as Society for the Management of 1Malaysia Care Centre.
A total of 400 runners participated in the 5-km run while its food bazaar featured over 70 stalls. It was held in the morning of Sunday, October 27 at the home along Jalan Dato Lau Pak Khuan.

“An annual event, the original objective of the charity run and food bazaar for this year was to collect funds to buy a new van for the use of our PPPJ1M children. Good news is, two days before the event, a generous donor known as Mr Kuan contributed a new van to our orphanage. We express our utmost gratitude to Mr Kuan. Thus, funds collected from this event will go towards settling the old van bank loan while the rest will go to the children’s education fund and to cover next year’s operating cost of our home,” explained Choong Kam Hoong, the Chairman of PPPJ1M Home.

The theme “I Love You, Change a Child’s Life” reflected the hope that with everyone’s support, one can change a child’s life for a better tomorrow.
“All funds collected will be used for our PPPJ1M children. Everyone should care for and love them. It is part of everyone’s responsibility, not just us as caretakers. Currently, we have 33 children staying in our PPPJ1M Home with the youngest being two years old and the eldest is 19 years old,” he added.

Established in 2012, the orphanage’s monthly expenses is around RM25,600 and it is in need of constant support to cover the operating cost. It houses orphans and children from single families who are poor.
Those who wish to lend a helping hand can just come over to the PPPJ1M Home located at 152 Jalan Dato Lau Pak Khuan, Taman Ipoh, 31400 Ipoh. The office is open from 10am to 6pm. One can also call the home at 05 546 9577.
