Pundi Kacang

By Ili Aqilah Yus Amirul

Pundi Kacang might sound like an odd name to some but wait till you step into the studio and rekindle childhood memories.

Located at Medan Ipoh Bestari, Pundi Kacang is a henna studio cum cafe owned by Cheah Suet Fay, an alumni of Ipoh Echo’s Echo Personality Section (featured in issue 239). The studio began its operation late October 2016 and Fay has already planned to expand her space.

Customers who come to Pundi Kacang can get their customised henna by Fay while indulging themselves with comfort food prepared by Fay and her crew. A must try dish at the cafe is the Authentic Laksa Siam (RM8), a spicy treat for laksa lovers. The recipe was created by Fay’s mom and has been one of their best sellers. Another main dish available at the cafe is Nasi Lemak Kampung (RM5), a classic serving of Malaysia’s favourite dish: coconut infused rice, peanuts and anchovies, hard boiled egg, cucumber and spicy sambal that’s guaranteed to keep you coming.

Aside from the their main dishes, guests are welcome to try the  desserts made by the team such as their warm brownies served with ice cream priced at RM10 and Onde Onde Pancakes that comes with Gula Melaka syrup for RM13. Customers can choose from the wide variety of drinks selection but Fay recommends guests to try the Thai Milk Tea (RM5), Thai White Coffee Float (RM6.50) and Lemony Minty Soda (RM4.50).

The cafe is also available for small parties such as Henna Bridal party, birthday party or even small gatherings of maximum 30 pax. Reservations can be made by Whatsapp at 012 512 1362. Pundi Kacang is located at 103A, First Floor, Jalan Medan Ipoh, Medan Ipoh Bestari.
