Established more than 40 years ago, Perak Medical Centre (PMC) is honoured as one of the best healthcare service providers in the state.
Group Manager of Perak Medical Centre Sdn Bhd, K. Nachemuthu said the awards from SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards (SEBA) in December have boosted the spirit for the next success.
“This is the highest honour from SEBA. For your information, PMC in Perak is the first to receive this award. Utmost gratitude for everyone’s support.
PMC began operations more than 60 years ago under the name of Georgetown Dispensary. Around the year 1978, it was divided into two fields: pharmaceutical and medical.
According to K. Nachemuthu, PMC currently manages five clinics in Perak including Physio Care at Medan Istana Ipoh. PMC has 11 doctors and 56 employees.
“Besides the medical field, PMC also focuses on the welfare of the people from all ethnicities. Every month, we contribute necessities to 50 poor families.
“In January, we held a colouring programme for children in conjunction with the celebration of Ponggal and Chinese New Year involving 515 kids of age 7 to 12 from seven schools around Ipoh.
“A total of 30 children were selected as winners for three categories. This programme provides opportunities for the children to display their talent and creativity. It can also increase concentration involving the movement of hands and eyes,” he added.
It is understood that the management of PMC is planning a free eye-check programme for school children and health checks for adults to be held in the middle of this year.
