‘Road Resurfacing Works to be Carried Out at 67 Locations’—Mayor

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will perform road resurfacing works of 56 kilometres involving a total of 67 locations around Ipoh.

Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the first phase of the road resurfacing works will be implemented in stages beginning mid March till July 2022.

“MBI has received many complaints regarding road damage such as potholes, bumpy roads, poor road patching by utility agencies, damage caused by floods and others. The issue has caused traffic discomfort and threatens the safety of users.

“The engineering department of the MBI has identified the roads in need of upgrades and resurfacing based on priorities and allocations obtained to ensure the safety of users.

“Phase one of the road resurfacing works involves the main roads at MBI areas, the city centre, as well as housing and industrial areas. A total of RM12 million is allocated from the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS),” he said in a media conference today.

Syarikat Puncak Emas Infra Sdn Bhd is the concession appointed for the resurfacing works.

Rumaizi hoped that Ipohites will be patient and abide by the traffic rules during the implementation of the works which might disrupt traffic, such as closure of a part of the route or turn which is unavoidable.

“The works are hoped to further increase road quality and provide comfort to users. As for phase two, we will focus on areas of Structured Village Plan (RPT),” he added.
