MBI and UiTM Perak Branch Sign Memorandum of Collaboration

The Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) signed between Ipoh City Council (MBI) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Perak branch, Seri Iskandar campus today is seen as the gateway to providing many mutual benefits

The Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said that among the focuses in this memorandum are holding joint programmes for training, seminars, workshops and conferences.

It includes short-term courses on the latest knowledge, technologies and skills in the field of landscape architecture.

“This activity will bring together a line-up of speakers from both institutions and discuss challenges or opportunities in the field of landscape architecture.

“This memorandum also highlights the inbound and outbound mobility of UiTM Perak Branch students and staff, in terms of receiving students for the purpose of industry training at MBI.

“In addition, distance learning candidates from MBI can continue their studies at UiTM Perak Branch,” he said.

Also present were, the Rector of UiTM Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar Campus, Prof. Ts. Sr. Dr. Md Yusof Hamid, Head of WHIP MBI Council Member, Abu Bakar Hussian and Head of the Department of Built Environment and Technology, Associate Professor Norhafizah Abdul Rahman.

Rumaizi added that with this collaboration, benefits will also flow toward the development of Ipoh city.

“We can benefit from the work carried out by UiTM Perak students in addition to encouraging art activities in the city of Ipoh,” he said.

Meanwhile, Md Yusof said the memorandum will be in effect for two years starting July 25.

“Through this collaboration, UiTM will share and provide expertise to MBI.

“At the same time, the students will benefit because they will be involved in the field to help MBI, thus gaining valuable real world experience in addition to their classroom studies.

“Previously we have collaborated with several other local authorities as well, such as the Central Perak District Council and the Kampar District Council,” he said.
