Learn to Protect Your Heart and Save Your Life: Heart Disease Awareness Campaign

Heart disease is the biggest killer in Malaysia, a statistic which hasn’t changed over the past two decades.

To make a change, we need to start with the younger generation, and Quest International University’s students are doing just that.

The university’s Pharmacy Students Society is organising a four-day heart disease awareness campaign to help the public find easy ways to practice a healthier lifestyle for their heart.

Themed “Healthy Heart, Healthy You”, the campaign will be held from Aug 27 to Aug 30. The first day of the campaign will involve a face-to-face event at AEON Mall Station 18.

There, experts will conduct free glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. Body Mass Index and Medicine Management consultation sessions will also be available for the public.

Day One will also feature healthy cooking and CPR workshops, exercise sessions with Urbax and Zumba and blood donation drives.

Days Two to Four will be held online, featuring online fitness sessions and cooking tutorials by chefs from QIU’s School of Hospitality, which will focus on diets that maintain a healthy heart.

The virtual segment of the campaign will also feature expert health talks covering a diverse range of topics:

Aug 28 (Sun)

Interesting Insights into Smoking and Heart Disease”
Mr Khairulanwar Husain—Community Pharmacist and QIU Senior Lecturer

Aug 29 (Mon)

“Heart Health in the Hands of Cardiology Pharmacists”

The online sessions will be available to the public on Facebook Live at the Public Health Campaign 2022 page and on YouTube at the Quest Pharmacy Student Society channel.
