Attempted Kidnapping Of Student Gone Viral

News of an attempted kidnapping of a student in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pengkalan has gone viral on social media since yesterday.

The viral news has attracted the attention of the community, especially parents, who worry about the safety of their children.

Following this viral news, the police confirmed receiving a report regarding the incident from the student’s mother.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the report was made on September 23 at 9.07pm.

He said, following that the police have established a special team to investigate this case from various angles.

“We’re also working with the State Education Department (JPN) and the school in improving the crime prevention measures in the school. Therefore, the public is advised not to make any speculations about this incident so as not to affect the police investigation,” he said in a statement.

The school, parents and guardians are also advised to take care when sending off and picking up the children, and to follow the school’s regulations. If there are any problems regarding the matter, parents should inform the school immediately.

According to Mohd Yusri, the school is reminded to ensure that matters of picking up and dropping off students are only done by certified parents and guardians.

“The police will also ensure that the safety and well-being of schools is maintained and have stationed police officers as school liaison officers throughout the state of Perak,” he said.

In the meantime, should the public have any information about the incident, they can contact the Senior Investigating Officer of the Ipoh District Police Headquarters, ASP Norazlina Rais at 013-6282176 or at any nearby police station to assist with the investigation.
