In conjunction with Chinese New Year, we could see the Lion Dance troupes doing performances at business centres and homes of the Chinese community. As the belief of the Chinese community, the Lion Dance is meant to expel evil spirits and attract good luck for the coming year.
In Seri Manjung. Lumut, Kumpulan Poliklinik Manjung annually organizes the various festival celebrations like Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali and Chinese New Year. For this Chinese New Year the Kumpulan Poliklinik Manjung management invited Nan Hwa High School of Sitiawan Lion Dance Troupe to do the performance at their clinic premises.
The Group Clinic Director, Dr. R. Pathmanathan said that they wanted something different to celebrate with their staff, clients and the local community. This is also a chance to understand the culture and traditions of the various communities here. Such kind of activities will strengthen the unity among Malaysians, especially residents in the local area Seri Manjung.
