Garbage Vigilante – Jalan Tasek

By Zaki Salleh

If the trash is not collected, many will blame the Ipoh City Council. However, littering freely along the roadside is even more unpleasant to the eyes and heart.

This is a common sight that we can see all the time. Boxes, plastic, and kitchen waste packaging from homes are carelessly thrown here.

Location: Row of shophouses on Jalan Tasek.

  1. Ipoh city council should go house to house, shoplot to shoplot and interview ppl why and how they dump rubbish in such a way and ask how rubbish collectors can improve and how to make work easier for the rubbish collectors . Now it is just one way that the residents expect dbi to pick up the trash.. dbi should not just put up a ” Do not throw rubbish here ” signage and expect the public to follow.. Engage ppl and educate them..DBI should also do similar for residences that hv dogs and cats and educate the public about proper pet ownership.. if no resources, get the university students involved as a community project. Dbi’s free green bins was a waste of taxpayers money . The rubbish collector had to reach in deep to pick up the rubbish, then they kumpul the rubbish at a corner before the rubbish truck comes to pick them up ..At dbi public events set up booths to give out information leaflet, engage public on how to keep the city clean..

  2. That’s a good point. Education and instilling good habits should be more effective than just signage alone.
