Landslide in Taman Bunga Raya Remains Unresolved, Residents Anxious

TAPAH – Nearly 96 hours have passed since a landslide struck Taman Bunga Raya, yet the issue remains unresolved, raising concerns among residents.

Taman Bunga Raya Residents’ Association chairman, Zamari Muhyi, said the incident is believed to have been caused by a burst underground water pipe, but its exact location has yet to be determined.

“We have reported the matter to Lembaga Air Perak (LAP), the fire department, the police, and the housing developer in hopes of finding a solution.

“LAP has already sent contractors to investigate, but so far, they have been unable to pinpoint the source of the leak,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

According to Zamari, the search operations had to be halted as there was a high possibility that the damaged pipe was located beneath the residential area.

“Any attempt to dig deeper could further weaken the already unstable ground. Cracks in the soil are becoming more visible and are now approaching the middle section of a house,” he explained.

He added that the uncontrolled water flow from the leak is a growing concern.

“As of now, the water continues to gush out, sounding like a waterfall. If this situation persists, it could potentially affect the entire residential area.

“So far, two houses have sustained severe damage out of the 60 in this housing area. We fear that if soil erosion occurs, it could pose a serious risk to residents’ safety,” he said.

Zamari urged the authorities to take immediate action before the situation worsens and endangers lives.
