IPOH: The overgrown weeds and tall grass at the children’s playground in Taman Sri Wani, Jelapang have finally been cleared by the relevant authorities recently.
Previously, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported that residents in the neighborhood had raised concerns about the safety of the playground, as venomous animals such as snakes had been spotted in the area.
A survey conducted at the site on Wednesday found that the playground had been cleaned and the tall grass cut down.
According to one of the residents, he hopes that grass cutting will be carried out regularly and not only in response to complaints.
“I believe the cleaning workers came to cut the grass two days ago. It hadn’t been trimmed for a long time and had been left to grow wild.
“We were worried about children playing there being exposed to venomous animals. Hopefully, the cleanliness will be maintained and not only addressed when complaints are made.
“Previously, even if the grass was cut, it was only done in the middle area. Please be more mindful of public safety—this is a community recreational area,” he said when met today.
Earlier, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported that the children’s playground in Taman Sri Wani, Jelapang was frequently used by children in the evenings, despite being overrun with weeds.
Several individuals who used the field for recreational activities claimed that the grass was only trimmed in the center section.
They added that the situation had persisted for a long time, and one of them claimed to have seen venomous animals such as snakes in the overgrown, weedy areas.
