IPOH: As Malaysians grapple with the rising cost of living, Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) remains steadfast in its mission to provide quality healthcare at affordable rates.
PCSH Member of the Board of Directors, Dato’ Lim Si Boon, said the hospital is focused on ensuring that low-income groups are not left behind in accessing essential medical services.
“PCSH has taken strategic steps to ensure that people from all walks of life can receive timely and affordable treatment,” he said during the 2025 Corporate Partners Appreciation Dinner and Hari Raya Celebration held recently.
Lim highlighted several key developments over the past year, including the successful relocation and upgrade of the hospital’s 24-hour Accident & Emergency (A&E) Unit, which has significantly improved operational efficiency.
The construction of a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is currently underway, which will add six critical care beds. Renovations to the Maternity Ward are nearing completion, while the Central Diagnostic Unit (CDU) is being expanded to meet growing demands.
A new Executive Ward will also open on Level 5, offering 25 modern and comfortable single and double-bedded rooms. The ward is part of a new ‘Hospitel’ concept—a blend of hospital-grade care and hotel-like comfort.
“This concept prioritises patient comfort without compromising on medical standards,” he said.
The hospital has also introduced the FeNO Test for more accurate respiratory diagnoses and robotic-assisted technology for Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgery to improve surgical precision and patient outcomes.
PCSH has become a preferred panel hospital for major insurance providers such as AIA and Great Eastern, with Allianz expected to join soon. The hospital is also recognised as a PRUPanel Plus Hospital and a strategic partner of Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad and Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad.
Additionally, PCSH continues to support national healthcare initiatives, participating in the Ministry of Health’s Hospital Services Outsourcing Programme (HSOP) 2025.
It is also a panel hospital under SOCSO’s Return to Work (RTW) Programme, which assists injured workers in rehabilitation and reintegration.
