IPOH: Members of the public and local residents in the Kampung Baru Simpang Pulai area are urged to promptly report any information related to a strange odour suspected to be chemical in nature, which is affecting air quality.
The call was made by Simpang Pulai State Assemblyperson, Wong Chai Yi, who also informed that her office has identified several suspicious locations.
This issue has been raised multiple times in the past, and Gopeng Member of Parliament, Tan Kar Hing, has also visited the sites where the odour frequently occurs.
“This information has been handed over to the Department of Environment (DOE).
“Thanks to the DOE for responding quickly and sending officers to the site for further investigation,” she said.
She added that the public can report any details regarding the issue, including the type of smell, time, and exact location.
“To assist the investigation and stop the air pollution from spreading further, we urge the public to share any related information.
“For example, foul smells, chlorine-like odours, chemical smells, burning smells, and so on.
“Note the time when the smell was detected and the exact location (you may attach a screenshot of a map or a location pin).
“In addition, suspected sources of pollution such as factories, open burning, and others,” she added.
