68 Years of Merdeka: Saarani Stresses Unity as Key to Perak’s Progress

By: Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

IPOH, Aug 30 — Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has reminded that the state’s progress and achievements cannot be sustained if the people are divided and allow hostility to grow.

He said Malaysia’s 68th year of independence should be celebrated with a renewed commitment to safeguarding harmony, as only unity and solidarity can ensure the continuity of development in the state.

“Perak’s rapid growth through mega projects such as the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjung Malim, Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LUMIC), Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP) and the Halal Industrial Park (HIP) in Lekir will only remain sustainable if the people uphold the spirit of unity,” he said in his speech during the state-level Merdeka Eve celebration at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Meru, last night.

Saarani added that unity is the foundation that guarantees Perak’s economic stability, boosts investor confidence and supports major development projects currently underway.

The Merdeka Eve celebration was also enlivened by the Festival Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah 2025, a three-day event featuring various programmes including Jualan Rahmah, family activities such as a mini petting zoo and Soopa Doopa, as well as the Merdeka Penalty League 2025.
