IPOH — The Perak State Government has affirmed that the Industrial Revolution 5.0 (IR5.0) and Inclusive Environment, Social, and Governance (i-ESG) principles are key pillars in realising the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan, which is centred on sustainable growth and community well-being.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad said both concepts complement each other in ensuring that the state’s progress remains balanced between economic growth, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.
“i-ESG calls for a balance between profit and social responsibility, while IR5.0 emphasises the fusion of technology and human values. In IR5.0, machines empower humans — not replace them,” he said during the Seminar 2.0 “Why iESG & IR5.0” officiating ceremony held at Hotel Casuarina@Meru here today.
He said the five core pillars of Perak Sejahtera 2030 — a sustainable economy, high-impact governance, human capital development, technological innovation, and environmental preservation — serve as the guiding framework for the state’s development agenda.
Saarani added that the state government is focusing on emerging sectors, such as the blue, green, care, and digital economies, to diversify revenue sources while ensuring that natural resources are managed responsibly.
He also highlighted the significance of IR5.0 in the agricultural sector through the use of drones and smart data systems to enhance yields and strengthen national food security.
Saarani noted that the launch of the Blue Economy agenda in February complements the Green Economy initiative, alongside the development of five major industrial nodes, including AHTV in Tanjong Malim and LuMIC in Lumut, which incorporate i-ESG and IR5.0 principles.
“Through these projects, we aim to provide quality job opportunities for the people and promote a lifestyle in harmony with nature,” he said.
He added that through PLANMalaysia, the state government also supports the smart and green city agenda to ensure inclusive development that leaves no one behind.
