PANGKOR: A natural phenomenon that has captured public interest, a significant low tide is expected to occur on Pangkor Island, Perak, in early February.

According to Pangkor State Legislative Assemblywoman (ADUN) Norhaslinda Zakaria, the phenomenon will not only draw the attention of local residents but is also expected to become a tourist attraction for the popular resort island.

“This low tide phenomenon is a natural event that rarely occurs so noticeably.

“It is expected to attract many tourists who wish to witness this unique natural beauty firsthand. It presents a golden opportunity to observe coral reef structures and the seabed that are usually hidden,” she said.

Information received from the Malaysian Marine Department confirms that the low tide will occur from February 2 to February 4.

The dates and times are as follows:

Monday, February 2 (11.00 am)
Tuesday, February 3 (11.40 am)
Wednesday, February 4 (12.16 pm)

The phenomenon is expected to take place at the stated times, with water levels lower than usual, offering visitors an extraordinary view.

Norhaslinda Zakaria also urged the public and tourists to take advantage of this opportunity to explore the natural wonders of Pangkor Island, which could in turn have a positive impact on the local tourism sector.

She added that the receding water will open up pathways for visitors to see more marine ecosystems, coral reefs, and marine life that are rarely visible under normal conditions.

“Members of the public and visitors are reminded to comply with all safety regulations to avoid any unwanted incidents.

“For further information regarding this phenomenon, the public may refer to the Malaysian Marine Department or the local authorities,” she said.
