GOPENG AVANTE: ‘AFFORDABLE HOMES’, NOT ‘JUST FOR SHOW’
57,407 housing units to be built in Perak by 2030

GOPENG: The Perak state government has set an ambitious target to build 57,407 housing units, comprising Rumah Perakku schemes and open market homes, by 2030.
Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, said the move is aimed at ensuring that the people in the state are not merely “spectators” in the thriving property sector, but can own homes for the sake of dignity and family stability.

He said that despite global economic pressures and rising construction material costs, the property market in Perak continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience.
“Within a year, up to last January, nearly 10,000 residential transactions were recorded. This proves that homes in Perak remain within an affordable range compared to other states.
“However, we acknowledge the issue of ‘mismatch’, where houses are built but remain unsold. That is why our focus now is on financing capability and ensuring that housing supply matches the actual needs of the people,” he said.

He said this while officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bandar Seri Raya (Gopeng Avante) development here today.
Touching on the Gopeng Avante project, Saarani praised the innovation introduced by the developer through the “kolong” concept, which is seen as a way to evoke nostalgia and foster closer community ties that have faded with modern lifestyles.
“Development today is not merely about bricks and mortar; it is about building communities. Gopeng’s position within ‘Greater Ipoh’ gives it a strong advantage for local economic growth,” he said.
The joint venture project between Team Keris Berhad and Bumi Avante symbolises the state government’s commitment to providing sustainable housing in strategic locations with broad access to employment opportunities.
