IPOH: Preparations are in full swing for a 250-kilometre solidarity run from Taiping to Parliament, aimed at advocating for the welfare of three Malaysian elephants—Dara, Amoi and Kelat (DAK).
The run will be undertaken by the Secretariat for Solidarity with DAK representative, Neow Choo Seong.
It is intended to raise public awareness regarding the future of the three elephants, which have drawn attention from various stakeholders.
Neow, who is also Special Officer to the Deputy Prime Minister II and MCA Youth Information Chief, said the run will take place from 17 June to 22 June.

The six-day journey will pass through Ipoh, Kampar, Tapah, Tanjung Malim and Sungai Buloh before concluding at Parliament.
According to him, the initiative is not merely about three elephants, but symbolises values of humanity, compassion and responsibility in protecting the nation’s natural heritage.
He said Dara, Amoi and Kelat are unable to speak for themselves, hence the public must become their voice.
He added that there are concerns the DAK elephants may continue to remain in captivity for a prolonged period if ongoing efforts are not sustained to advocate for their welfare.

Neow expressed hope that every kilometre covered will serve as a symbol of hope and public support for the mission.
He also extended his appreciation to all parties who continue to support the #SolidarityWithDAK campaign for the future of Dara, Amoi and Kelat.
