TAIPING: Taiping came alive with music and colour as the Taiping International Youth Band Festival 2026 unfolded at Dataran Warisan, drawing about 670 participants from both local and international ensembles.
The prestigious event featured youth marching band teams from Malaysia, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong, showcasing a diverse blend of musical performances and cultural exchange.


The festival was officiated by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
The programme began with a vibrant marching parade that saw bands performing along the Taiping town centre, drawing crowds with lively and colourful displays.


A series of evening musical performances was also held, entertaining visitors throughout the event.
Organisers said the festival serves as a platform to unite youths through music while strengthening ties and friendships among participating countries.


The participation of performers from various cultural backgrounds also highlighted the talent, discipline and creativity of the younger generation in the performing arts.
The presence of participants, accompanying officials and visitors contributed to the festive atmosphere across the heritage town throughout the event.


The festival is also expected to provide a positive boost to the local tourism and economy, with increased visitor traffic to Taiping during the programme.
Beyond promoting arts and culture, the event further reinforces Taiping’s image as a heritage tourism destination that actively hosts international-level programmes.
