IPOH: A road near Persiaran Cempaka Sari 26 in Taman Cempaka here, used daily by numerous vehicles, including those driven by students, continues to be plagued by the unresolved issue of an unstable drain cover.
A residents’ representative claimed that several complaints had been lodged with the relevant authorities, including the local councillor and the area’s state assemblyman, but alleged that no comprehensive action had been taken.

The issue, which has persisted for more than a year, poses a danger to the public, particularly if the drain cover collapses and causes a serious accident involving motorcyclists.
“The drain cover in front of the entrance to Persiaran Cempaka Sari 26, Taman Cempaka, is in a dangerous and unstable condition.
“This situation has raised concerns among road users as the metal cover is uneven and unstable.
“The concrete surface on the drain cover has cracked and broken, and it could collapse at any time.
“Every day, this road is used by many cars and motorcycles, including those ridden by senior citizens and students.
“Several complaints were submitted to the Ipoh City Council (MBI) through the MyAduan MBI portal, as well as to the local councillor and elected representative in April, but no action has been taken to date.
“It is understood that the damage has existed for about a year. Even when repairs were carried out, only minor cement patching was done, and it eventually cracked again due to the heavy volume of traffic using the road. We hope a more permanent solution can be implemented,” the representative told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
The representative urged the relevant authorities to carry out immediate repair works on the drain cover before an accident occurs.
