Proton Wira Driver and Passenger Severely Injured 

Two victims of an accident involving a driver and a passenger of a Proton Wira car were severely injured in a collision with a lorry which weighed around three tonnes at Kilometre (KM) 305.2 of the North-South PLUS Expressway, heading south, midnight today (September 18).

During the incident, the car rammed into the back of the lorry and caused both victims to be trapped in their seats.

According to chief of operations for Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station, Senior Fire Officer II Rozimi Mohd Ali, the station received an emergency call around 12.03am before sending two fire engines and a squad to the incident’s location.

“Both victims were rescued using special equipment and they were rushed to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh for immediate treatment,” he said. “The lorry drivers were unharmed.”

The rescue operation ended around 12.34am.
