MBI Won Grant Worth RM25,000 in Innovation Competition for Local Authorities of Malaysia
The Ipoh City Council (MBI) won the ninth spot in the innovation competition of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT), under the category of local authorities (PBT) Malaysia, thus bringing home a KPKT grant worth RM25,000, as well as a certificate and trophy.
At the ceremony in Pulau Pinang, the City Secretary, Ahmad Munir Ishak, represented the Mayor to receive the prizes presented by Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, witnessed by Chief Minister of Pulau Pinang, Chow Kon Yeow.
Present was the Director of Landscape of MBI, Meor Abdullah Zaidi Meor Razali.
The innovation competition which featured participation from local authorities highlighted various innovations aimed for delivery of more efficient service to aid impacted citizens in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eze3@mbi is an innovation involving the inventory of shady trees for all areas under the MBI via the use of portable devices or smartphones.
Earlier, the Eze3@mbi innovation also won the silver medal in the copyright category of the Intellectual Property Award and the Green Award under the Malaysia Landscape Architecture Award.
The system is developed internally and has obtained intellectual copyright. It has been sold to a few local authorities and institutes of higher education (IPT).
Its use will be expanded to city folks for any complaints related to trees, preservation of trees and specific research on flora around Ipoh.
The innovation is viewed as capable of improving service to the city folks via its database of shady trees and encouraging more systematic tree maintenance.
