BAGAN DATUK: A total of 23 buildings, including houses, an eatery, and a temple, were destroyed in a fire early this morning at Bagan Pasir Laut, Hutan Melintang, here.
According to the Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the incident occurred at around 4:52 a.m. on Saturday.
He said that 11 personnel from the Hutan Melintang and Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Stations, along with the Sungai Tiang Volunteer Fire Brigade, were dispatched to the scene.
He further explained that the fire spread rapidly due to the close proximity of the houses and low water pressure from the fire hydrants.
“The spread of the fire resulted in the destruction of 21 houses measuring 20 x 50 feet, classified as Class B and C, along with one eatery and one temple.
“However, no victims were involved in the fire.
“By 7:30 a.m., the fire was brought under control. The extent of the damage is still being assessed by the operations chief, and firefighting operations are ongoing,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
