180 participants attend Perak Sports Medicine Symposium

IPOH: For the first time ever, the 1st Perak Sports Medicine Symposium was successfully held at Hotel Casuarina@Meru.

This program was a joint effort between the Sports Medicine Unit of Taiping Hospital, Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, and Teluk Intan Hospital, in collaboration with the Perak State Sports Council.

It successfully brought together 180 participants from various professional backgrounds, including doctors, physiotherapists, sports science officers, coaches, teachers, athletes, and students from across the country.

The symposium focused on treatment, injury prevention, and performance management in combat sports such as silat, muay thai, taekwondo, and others.

It also served as a platform for knowledge sharing on modern approaches in sports medicine, which are becoming increasingly relevant with current developments.

This event not only made history as the first symposium of its kind in Perak, but also became a significant platform for raising awareness and fostering collaboration among experts, practitioners, and the national combat sports community.

 

Earlier, the opening ceremony was officiated by Dr. Saiful Azlan Sharif, Director of HRPB and representative of the Perak State Health Department.

Also present were Dr. Rozaiman Ebrahim, Head of Sports Medicine Services at the Ministry of Health, and Mazlan Mohamad, Director of the Perak State Sports Council.
