Junior Chamber International Ipoh (JCI Ipoh) hosted and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cheng & Co Foundation and ESG-CO Service Corporation Association for their “Plant to 1000″ tree-planting initiative.
During the signing ceremony, all parties pledged to uphold the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 13: Climate Action) by collaborating to plant 1,000 trees across Perak, Malaysia, thereby fostering environmental awareness and encouraging companies to fulfil their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibilities.
“It is an honour to collaborate with JCI Ipoh. By sharing Cheng & Co’s growth journey, I hope to inspire every young entrepreneur present — to show that with perseverance and purpose, a business can grow sustainably while creating value for society”, said Dato’ Dr. Chua Hock Hoo, Executive Chairman of Cheng & Co Foundation.
“Plant to 1000 is more than just planting trees; it is about awakening environmental awareness and fostering a greener lifestyle. Through this project, we hope to rally more citizens and businesses to take part and truly embed environmental issues into our communities”, said Wong Li Hwa, President of JCI Ipoh.
“This partnership aligns perfectly with our group’s direction towards ESG goals. We look forward to working with JCI Ipoh to drive more sustainable and impactful community projects in the future”, said Tom Wong, President of ESG-CO Service Corporation Association

This is ahead of their Tree Planting 1000: A Thousand Trees, A Greener Tomorrow event, which is currently planned to be held on 23 August at Aeon Station 18. This upcoming event will feature onsite tree planting, coloring contest and SDG board games.
