Perak Government Ensures Affordable Housing for the People

SITIAWAN: Homebuyers of Rumah Perakku at Taman Perakku Batu 14, Lekir, Sitiawan, have successfully received the keys to their homes, marking the completion of the 11th housing project under the Rumah Perakku initiative.
The project consists of single-storey low-cost terrace houses priced as low as RM85,000 – significantly below current market value.
These homes come with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a parking space, making them suitable for low- and middle-income families.
The project was developed through a collaboration between the Perak Housing and Property Board (LPHP) and developer Seri Bumi Makmur Sdn. Bhd., beginning in April 2018 on a 4.23-acre plot of land.
This year, LPHP aims to complete three more projects, bringing the total to 14 completed projects.
This will result in a total of 1,388 Rumah Perakku units and 882 Rumah Perwira units across the state.
Earlier, the key handover ceremony was officiated by Menteri Besar Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
In his speech, Saarani stated that the state government remains committed to ensuring that housing remains affordable and of good quality, despite rising construction costs.
“LPHP and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) have also signed a memorandum of understanding to standardize housing designs and specifications, and to better control costs,” he said.
“LPHP is also forming strategic partnerships with financial institutions to ease access to financing, especially for young people and new families looking to purchase their first home,” he added.
