IPOH: The state governments of Perak and Selangor are strengthening their strategic collaboration to enhance the development of Chinese New Villages through a benchmarking visit to several key locations.

Among the locations visited were Kampung Baru Papan in Batu Gajah, Setiawan Settlement Museum, Lang Hua Mee Trading, Ayer Tawar Heritage Museum, and Taman Rakyat@Disneyland, Ayer Tawar.
The delegation had the opportunity to closely observe the implementation of Perak’s integrated Chinese New Village development model, which encompasses heritage conservation, economic enhancement, and the well-being of the local community.
Perak State Executive Councillor for Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, Consumer Affairs, and Chinese New Villages, Woo Kah Leong, stated that the program serves as a platform for sharing views and knowledge to formulate a more inclusive and comprehensive development policy for Chinese New Villages.
“This collaboration not only strengthens the ties between the two states but also expands smart partnership opportunities in empowering Chinese New Villages as high-potential areas for economic and social development,” he said.
The Selangor delegation was led by Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, State Executive Councillor for Local Government Development, Tourism, and Chinese New Village Development.
He noted that Perak’s approach serves as a leading model in balancing progress with the preservation of heritage and cultural identity.
Overall, the program reflects the ongoing commitment of both states to reinforce synergy in developing Chinese New Villages in a more integrated, well-organized, and sustainable manner.
This initiative is also aligned with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 vision and the Malaysia MADANI framework, which emphasizes a balance between development and the people’s well-being.
