Last Saturday, the Education Welfare and Research Foundation (EWRF) Ipoh Branch had organised a programme on enhancing Digital Education through Gamification at SJKT Perak Sangeetha Sabah Ipoh. Approximately 100 students and 10 teachers participated in the programme, which led to a fun learning session which encouraged the participants to embrace technology, rather than fear it.

Gamification, which is to apply game-design elements to education, such as having points and leaderboards, is a student-centered approach that uses rewards, challenges and immediate feedback to enhance the learning and problem-solving experience.

In this EWRF collaboration with First Ray Sdn Bhd, which was founded by Mr. Sivansankar, a chemical engineer by profession and currently serving as a corporate trainer and gamification consultant; the programme was conducted using the Giants vs Titans (GvT) Quiz Platform from First Ray. GvT encouraged the students to be empowered through challenges like quizzes and interactive activities, in bringing about changes for a better planet.

EWRF National Vice President and Ipoh Branch Chairman, Mr. Sylverster Dhas, expressed his thanks to the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Member of Parliament Ipoh Barat, YB Tuan Kulasegaran, for launching the event.
He also expressed his appreciation to Deputy President of EWRF, Mr. Jeya Kumar and EWRF General Secretary, Dr. Chitra, for showing their support. As well as thanks to the Headmistress of SJKT Perak Sangeetha Sabah Ipoh, Pn. Suseela.

Mr. Sylverster Dhas stated, “We live in a world that is changing rapidly, driven by the digital revolution. More and more people now have access to information, thanks to the availability of smartphones and affordable connectivity.
“And today, with the rise of Artificial Intelligence, this transformation is accelerating even further. Some say it will bring great benefits to humanity; others worry about challenges, including job displacement. Time will tell. But one thing is certain, we cannot afford to remain on the sidelines.
