IPOH — The state government has allocated RM2 million under the Perak Budget 2026 to strengthen football development following Perak’s withdrawal from the Super League.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad stated that efforts to rebuild Perak football must begin at the grassroots level in a structured and focused manner, anchored in discipline, loyalty, and teamwork.
“Perak has never lacked talent, and the state’s proud history of producing renowned players remains a source of confidence.
“This RM2 million allocation reflects the state government’s commitment to supporting development programmes throughout Perak, including the Perak Sejahtera League.
“This is an initial step to translate that commitment into action, with a stronger foundation and a clearer direction,” he said at the launch dinner of the 2025/2026 Perak Sejahtera Inter-Parliament League, the Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad Cup, held here last night.

Saarani stressed that the future of football cannot depend solely on the professional stage.
Instead, he said it must be built at the school, district, and parliamentary levels through a healthy ecosystem, fair opportunities for young talent, and management that is transparent, accountable, and guided by integrity.
He also congratulated Perak FA on qualifying for the Malaysia Cup and expressed hope for the success of the Perak SUKMA team at the 2026 Games.
“All teams taking part in the Perak Sejahtera League 2026 must compete with spirit, dignity, and determination,” he said.
