IPOH: Illegal dumping remains one of the main issues faced by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) in its efforts to eradicate it, but irresponsible attitudes have caused the problem to recur.
Unwilling to use this as an excuse, MBI personnel continue to carry out their duties by conducting cleaning works within their areas of responsibility.
Cleaning works involving illegally dumped waste, including garden waste and bulky waste, were carried out along Jalan Anandoo and Jalan Chui Chak in Kampung Baru Buntong.
These tasks were handled by the Public Health and Municipal Services Department of the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
According to MBI Councillor for the Buntong Zone, Lawrence Palanisamy, the works are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that cleanliness standards, public well-being and environmental sustainability are continuously maintained within the MBI administrative area.
“I urge the entire community to continue taking care of environmental cleanliness and to refrain from indiscriminately dumping rubbish.
“As emphasised by the Minister of Housing and Local Government, starting from 1 January 2026, any individual found littering will be subjected to community service penalties.
“Therefore, the commitment and cooperation of all parties are crucial to ensure that our environment remains clean, comfortable and conducive to shared well-being,” he said.
He also expressed his highest appreciation to the MBI Public Health and Municipal Services Department, all parties involved, as well as the local community who continue to support this cleanliness initiative.
