Careless Motorcycle Parking Blocks Public Pathways

By Zaki Salleh

BATU GAJAH: Parking carelessly may be convenient, but it actually inconveniences others.

Members of the public frequently lodge complaints about the actions of certain individuals who like to park their vehicles, especially motorcycles, in improper places, causing obstructions.

For example, the Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) took enforcement action during an operation in which 11 motorcycles were seized for being wrongly parked on sidewalks.

The operation, carried out from 9.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon, involved several main locations around Persiaran BG Perdana 1, Laluan BG Perdana 1, and Persiaran BG Perdana 10.

Action was taken because these motorcycles forced pedestrians to use narrower and riskier pathways.

This affects public safety, especially for the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities.

MDBG stressed that parking on sidewalks is a serious offence that not only violates the law but can also compromise the safety and comfort of the public.

The authorities also reminded the public to park their vehicles in designated areas to avoid legal action.

Any complaints or reports can be submitted through the SISPAA Perak portal at https://perak.spab.gov.my.

With stricter enforcement, MDBG hopes that the community will be more aware and responsible in maintaining the comfort and safety of public areas.
