Rubbish Set Ablaze Despite RORO Bin Provided, Authorities Lament Irresponsible Act

BY: Aida Aziz

BATU GAJAH: When roll-on/roll-off (RORO) bins are not provided in certain areas, some members of the public often complain and call for such facilities to be introduced to make bulk waste disposal easier.

However, when local authorities do provide them, a different issue arises — irresponsible individuals have instead set the rubbish inside the bins on fire.

This was what happened in Batu Gajah, where waste in a RORO bin was burned, causing damage to the facility and contributing to environmental pollution.

The Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) expressed regret over the incident, describing the act as a clear sign of disregard for public safety.

“MDBG has provided RORO bins to ensure waste is disposed of properly. So why set them on fire?

“This not only damages public property but also clearly reflects an irresponsible attitude towards the safety and health of others.

“These RORO bins are provided to help the community dispose of waste in an orderly manner, prevent illegal dumping and maintain cleanliness in the area.

“They are not meant to be burned or destroyed. We hope such incidents will not recur. Let us work together to safeguard public facilities for the benefit and safety of all,” it said.
