On this day, Lions Club of Ipoh Evergreen collaborated with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) Caritas Homes of Hope, to bring festive joy to the children and adult cancer patients, survivors and their families. Today is not only Valentine’s Day, but also shortly ahead of both Chinese New Year and the start of Ramadan.

President of Lions Club of Ipoh Evergreen, Catherine Tuen, gave a speech, wishing everyone a happy chinese new year and happy Valentine. She expressed the Lions Club’s gratitude to the event organiser  NCSM, Ms. Mary and her team, as well as their appreciation to K2 Bitumen Sdn. Bhd. for the sponsorship of the day’s events as well as the buffet for 80 pax. She emphasized that they remain committed to supporting cancer awareness, early detection and family support if the need arises.

Following the speech, was the first performance of the day, as the “Gong Xi Ni” was sung. It was an activity filled day as the children and adults were split into teams to play assorted simple, yet fun games to build camaraderie, such as the Human Guide game, where a member of each team is blindfolded while their team members guide them to drop a ping pong ball into a basket. In addition, there was also a crafts session, using old ang pow packets to make new decorations.

With the activities concluded, a festive buffet was held.

In this time of celebration, it’s important to remember that there are people, including children, who are going through dire times. These celebratory events help to keep their spirits up for the challenges they face going forward.
