LUMUT: Every special needs child deserves support, attention and opportunities to grow holistically.
In line with this, the Malaysian Armed Forces introduced the Ikhtiar Autisme ATM (IA-ATM) programme, designed specifically for children of military personnel.

The initiative ensures that children with autism receive appropriate care, guidance and early intervention for their overall well-being.
IA-ATM is implemented through a collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and several agencies, including the Ministry of Health, the Social Welfare Department, and the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM).
The programme also receives funding support from Lembaga Tabung Haji as part of its corporate social responsibility commitment.
Through structured learning and therapeutic approaches, the programme not only focuses on the development of children with special needs, but also plays a role in raising public awareness about autism.

At the same time, IA-ATM strengthens cooperation networks between government agencies and related entities to ensure that the welfare of this group continues to be safeguarded.
Earlier, the programme was officially launched by Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari at the Lautan Kasih Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre at the Royal Malaysian Navy Base in Lumut.
The implementation of IA-ATM is seen as a proactive step in enhancing support systems for military families, particularly in helping parents navigate the challenges of raising children on the autism spectrum in a more organised and effective manner.
