Man arrested over alleged sexual harassment on Ipoh–KL Sentral train

TANJUNG MALIM, April 20 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has confirmed that a sexual harassment incident allegedly occurred on an ETS train travelling from Ipoh to KL Sentral last Thursday.

In a statement, KTMB said police officers detained the male suspect upon arrival at Tanjung Malim Railway Station.

“The suspect was handed over to the police for further investigation and action.

“The victim was also given the necessary assistance until a police report was lodged,” the statement read.

KTMB said it takes any form of harassment or misconduct that compromises passengers’ safety and well-being seriously.

“We remain committed to providing a safe, comfortable and secure travel environment for all our service users.

“Members of the public are advised to immediately report any incident to the train crew or authorities to enable swift action,” it said.

The public with information on any suspicious activity is urged to contact the KTMB Auxiliary Police Information Centre at 03-2263 1194 (24 hours) or inform the Royal Malaysia Police for immediate action.

KTMB will continue working with authorities to ensure service safety.
