IPOH: The hard work of SMK Sungai Pari students who achieved excellent examination results was recognised by the school.
They were honoured at the Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Pari, which was recently held here.
A total of 50 students received certificates of appreciation for their respective academic achievements, reflecting the school’s commitment to producing high-performing students.
The certificates were presented by Buntong Child Protection Team chairman P. Uvarajan, who attended as the guest.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of former Penang police chief Datuk Seri V. Thaiveegan, who is also an alumnus of the school.
He contributed RM5,000 as a reward for the top 10 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students in the form of cash and tablets as encouragement for them to continue excelling in education.
In his speech, Uvarajan said the ceremony was among the efforts aimed at supporting the cultivation of educational excellence.
He said the contribution was distributed to the best SPM students as an incentive to appreciate their efforts and achievements.
“The event also served as a platform to strengthen ties between the school, the community, and relevant agencies in supporting the character development and academic progress of students,” he said.
Meanwhile, Uvarajan explained that the Buntong Child Protection Team NGO, which operates under the Social Welfare Department, plays an important role in monitoring and safeguarding the welfare of students, particularly those from the B40 group.
The NGO also focuses on students facing social issues while protecting children from neglect, abuse, and harassment.
This ongoing effort is seen as an important initiative in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children are continuously safeguarded.
