Gerik Megatrails 2026 boosts tourism economy potential

GERIK- Gerik Megatrails 2026 has officially kicked off, marking the return of one of Perak’s growing eco-tourism and extreme sports events.

Now entering its third edition, the programme continues to position Gerik as a leading destination for eco-tourism and adventure sports.

The prestigious event is increasingly gaining attention at both national and regional levels, attracting participants from within Malaysia and abroad to take part in various extreme activities across the natural landscapes of the Temengor Forest Reserve, Piah and Kenering forest reserves.

The uniqueness of Gerik Megatrails lies in the experience of exploring forest trails, rivers and hilly terrain that not only challenge participants, but also showcase the natural beauty of Hulu Perak, known for its rich biodiversity and world-class natural heritage.

Gerik continues to demonstrate its potential as a nature tourism destination capable of attracting visitors from both local and international markets.

Earlier, the officiating ceremony and flag-off were conducted by Saarani Mohamad at the Gerik Airport.

Apart from the main activities such as 4×4 challenges, motocross and trail running, visitors were also treated to various attractions, including food festivals, community activities and stage performances throughout the event.
