By: Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Jelapang state assemblyman Cheah Pou Hian has conducted a field visit to inspect several locations requiring urgent infrastructure upgrades in Kampung Baru Jelapang.

The visit was also joined by Kampung Baru Jelapang headman Yip, special officer to the constituency Marc, as well as officers from the Public Works Department of the Ipoh City Council (MBI).

The inspection covered three main locations identified as facing various issues related to public amenities and drainage systems.

The first location was Lebuh Jelapang 11, which requires road rectification and widening works.

During the inspection, it was found that part of the existing road sits on private land that has been used as a public access route.

This situation requires immediate attention to ensure the road status can be properly resolved while maintaining convenience for road users.

The second location involved Jalan Besar Jelapang, which frequently experiences flash floods during heavy rain.

The issue is believed to be caused by a blocked underground drainage system that requires urgent cleaning works.

The maintenance work is expected to help improve water flow and reduce flood risks in the area.

Meanwhile, Jalan Simpang also faces similar flash flood issues every time there is heavy rainfall.
