IPOH: A total of 33 small traders in Taman Temara will be relocated to temporary trading lots as an interim measure before a new hawker centre is built.
In a statement, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) said its Licensing Department recently conducted a briefing session on the final allocation of temporary trading lots at the Taman Temara Hawker Site.

According to MBI, 23 traders attended the session out of the 33 traders involved in the relocation exercise.
“The traders were also informed that the closing date for applications for trading lots at the Taman Temara Hawker Site is June 19,” the statement said.
Also present was the political secretary to Ipoh Timur MP, Mohd Norriduan Mohd Idrus.
Meanwhile, Mohd Norriduan said the provision of more organised and safer stalls would enable traders to conduct their businesses in a more conducive and secure environment.

He said the development of 45 trading lots in Taman Temara was part of efforts to improve the welfare and economic standing of small traders in the area.
“Previously, they had to operate in less comfortable conditions and faced various safety-related issues.
“In addition, they will be allowed to operate from morning until night, giving them greater opportunities to generate income,” he said.
He added that the traders would also be issued valid business licences, enabling them to apply for various government assistance programmes and initiatives aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and small-scale hawkers.
